Normal Delivery

Normal Delivery

Bringing your bundle of joy to this world is a feeling that a mother can only feel. From the first movement of the baby inside the womb to the first touch of the child’s hand, every moment is very special. At Vardhman hospital, our team of obstetricians and gynecologists ensure that the delivery is as special as were your nine months. At Vardhman, we try and counsel expecting mothers to go for normal delivery rather than a cesarean section.

Normal delivery is the birth of the baby through the vagina. We generally advise the expecting mothers to remain active during the course of pregnancy and opt for some light exercises or yoga which increases the chances of a normal delivery unless contraindicated. Normal delivery can be either spontaneous i.e. you start experiencing labor pain and contractions naturally or in case you have completed the full term of pregnancy labor pain can be induced through medicines and injections by the gynecologist.

Surgery & Recovery

As soon as you experience the labor pain you are advised to report to the hospital along with all your medical records for admission. Unlike other surgeries where you need to undergo a battery of investigations called pre-anesthesia tests, here most of the tests have already been done during the course of the pregnancy hence are not repeated. However, you will be advised of a simple CBC test.

In case of normal delivery, you are shifted to the LDR suite in the hospital which is just like a room but is equipped with all necessary facilities for normal delivery. Your stay in the hospital is for two days after which you are discharged and advised the date for a follow-up visit with both gynecologists and pediatricians.

Our Doctors

The team of obstetricians and gynaecologists is led by Dr Nutan Jain who is the head of the department at Vardhman Hospital. She is an internationally acclaimed gynaecologist with more than 30 years experience. Dr Jain is ably supported by her team that includes Dr Vandana Jain, Dr Sangeeta Sharma and Dr Aruna Arya. At Vardhman hospital, our focus has always been towards doing ethical practice. This is one of the biggest driving force behind having normal deliveries more than caesarean deliveries. Unlike other hospitals, our ratio of normal delivery is very high.

While our gynaecologists ensure that the mother is healthy and comfortable, our team of paediatricians and neonatologists take care of the newborn. Every minutest detail about the newborn is documented and relevant vaccinations are given during the hospital stay. Our paediatricians and neonatologists are experienced in handling premature babies with the utmost care.

Cost And Facilitation

The cost of a normal delivery at Vardhman Hospital in a single deluxe room is approximately INR 40,000 which includes staying in the hospital for two days. The package includes the cost of the stay, nursing charges, patient meals, labor room charges, gynecologist fee, pediatrician fee, cost of medicine, and consumables. However in case, you opt for a painless delivery using epidural pain management, the cost of the same would be over and above the package. Similarly, if you need a blood transfusion then the cost of the blood products would be extra.

If the gynecologist terms the delivery as high-risk delivery then the package rates won’t be applicable and the cost would be higher than a routine caesarean delivery. Cost of stay of the baby in NICU in case of pre-term delivery would also be on actual.
