Digital X-Ray Machine

A high quality X ray machine is installed in Vardhman Hospital. It gives high quality pictures in lesser time. Here digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. Also less radiation can be used to produce an image.

Instead of X-ray film, digital radiography uses a digital image capture device. The gives advantages of immediate image preview and availability; elimination of film processing steps; a wider dynamic range as well as the ability to apply special image processing techniques that enhance overall display of the image.

CT Scan

Computerized tomography scan helps the doctor to diagnose and treat a lot of conditions. It  is a rapid and high resolution imaging of the body within few seconds, which is a  necessity for trauma cases.

The CT scan can produce detailed pictures in a few seconds and provide exquisitely clear, three-dimensional images in an instant, enabling precise diagnosis. The CT Scan gives high quality images with lowest radiation dose to the patient.

MRI Scan

The MRI scanner is one of the most advanced equipments available for the  body imaging. It helps in ruling out spinal abnormalities and enables diagnosis of various spinal disorders. MRI is commonly used for injuries around the knee joint in which ligamentous injuries are suspected. MRI is also a diagnostic tool for ailments if the shoulder, the elbow and very commonly for the hip joint.

Advances in imaging with the aid of technology has taken imaging  to greater heights. It allows us to detect diseases earlier and  provide an enhanced level of management and care.

DEXA Scan (Bone Densitometry)

DEXA – Dual energy X-Ray absorptiometry

It is a gold standard for measuring Osteoporosis and the quality of the bones. Vardhman Hospital offers this latest technology to ensure accurate diagnosis and efficient treatment. DEXA is quick, painless and the preferred method to measure BMD

DEXA scanning focuses on two main areas, the hip and spine. Although osteoporosis involves the whole body, measurements of BMD at one site can be predictive of fractures at other sites. Scanning generally takes 10 to 20 minutes to complete and is painless. The absolute amount of bone as measured by bone mineral density (BMD) testing generally correlates with bone strength. It is possible to predict fracture risk.

Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones are not as strong as normal bone. Osteoporosis increases the risk of breaking bones  with even minor trauma.

BMD analysis is recommended for women between ages 50 and 65 with risk factors for osteoporosis and for all women over the age of 65. In addition, men and women taking certain medications or having certain diseases should discuss testing with their doctor.

Unfortunately, people often are unaware until either they have a fracture or have a screening test ordered by their doctor to check for osteoporosis. Women are four times more likely to develop osteoporosis than men. Risk factors include older age, family history of osteoporosis, small and thin stature, inactive lifestyle, smoking, alcohol, and use of certain medications including steroids

Image Intensifier

It is an imaging component which converts x-rays into a visible image

Also popularly known as the C-Arm, the image intensifier are the eyes to an orthopaedic surgeon. Like Xrays which give a static image of the status of the bones, the image intensifier is a dynamic study. It is used intra operatively to guide the surgeon. The operating rooms in Vardhman Hospital are equipped with the latest C Arms which give a very clear hi quality image

Computer Navigation

In the modern era of technology and computers, we have also equipped ourselves with the navigation systems. They help the surgeons in the operating theatres. The navigation systems are mostly used in the replacement surgeries. Knee replacement surgery is done using this concept.

The navigation improves the accuracy of the surgeon and helps him during the surgery. As a end result the patient is rewarded with a perfectly aligned and balanced joint. It improves the life of the replaced joint and reduces the need for a revision surgery.

Physiotherapy Department

Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation form a very important part of  patient care and cure, especially following accidents and injury.

Physiotherapy is a major contributor to health care and an accepted supplement to medicine and surgery. Physiotherapists utilize a growing number of complementary forms of medicine and treatment methods such as massage, manipulation, acupuncture, reflex therapy and therapeutic exercise. Doctors

The department has state of the art electrotherapy modalities along with rehabilitation tools and equipment. It is equipped with traction machines, cycles and other training equipment. The physiotherapists carefully analyze problems  and understand how each separate problem impacts the person’s lifestyle at work and at leisure.
